1 Million Views,2 Million subscribers, $ 3 Million in revenues, a Porsche, a Ferrari, a mansion.
Finally, I am out of my bed, and as jay z said it was all a dream”.
YouTube, the most unconventional yet the most sought after jobs in the modern era, if we look at it almost every 1 out of 2 people has in some or the other way either liked, viewed, shared or have a YouTube channel.
YouTube has grown by leaps and bounds in the past years, and if we specifically consider the Indian market it has seen immense growth in the past 2-3 years, with AIB, TVF & BEING INDIAN being the leading players of the Indian YouTube market, but the budding and prospering YouTube channels including the likes of Carry Minati, Rickshawali, BB ki Vines, Technical Guruji, and newly introduced YouTube channels including the likes of The Short Girl.
With YouTube being the most popular video sharing platform in the world, there are challenges specific to the Indian market and it ranges from family acceptance issues to availability of a feasible internet connection, so here we delve into 3 major challenges faced by an Indian YouTuber:-
- FAMILY ACCEPTANCE:-
As it goes with any other unconventional jobs like dancing, performing, comedian, author etc. The list goes really long. As we know that in India the list jobs or fields which are considered respectable by the Indian society is really short.
Either you can be working for an MNC, a government job or even be a cricketer.
And with YouTube still a budding industry in India, family acceptance is almost non-existent. Recently we had a chance to sit with the TheShortGirl she told us that many people ask her that what she will be doing for a living and believe me being a YouTuber is not an answer to that question.
Though with the passage of time this thing might fade away, and we hope that that day is not much far away.
- NOT MUCH AWARENESS ABOUT HOW YOUTUBE WORKS:-
The major issue existing with the budding YouTubers is not having much or proper awareness about how YouTube earnings work. What we get fascinated with is the amount of money or the amount of views our favorite YouTuber gets.
But what we don’t pay attention to is that those people worked really hard to reach where they are today and what we do is we “focus on the destination rather than on the journey”, which not only leads us to build an illusion as to what YouTube earnings are but it also in a way make us a feel kind of not being worthy enough.
And to add up to this there are many fake and unreliable websites which show up revenues, witnessing whom even PDP will shy away.
YouTube is not where you will get instant or your first video will get viral, it may if you are lucky enough but what we must remember is “HARDWORK IS NOT ONLY THE KEY TO SUCCESS, IT’S THE ONLY KEY TO SUCCESS”.
- DEARTH OF REQUISITE AVAILABILITY OF INFRASTRUCTURE:-
This can be categorized as 2: issues one being non-availability of proper infrastructure i.e. good quality devices including cameras, microphones, proper lighting, software.
And the other being the absence of how to exploit the complete efficiency of these devices, though this is not that much a major issue but still other than the content it’s presentation which makes a content worth watching.
So the proper availability and understanding of the working of these devices is a must if you want to reach the masses.
So these are some of the major challenges faced by in Indian YouTuber, and it’s always said don’t just pinpoint the issues provide solutions so here I am amalgamating some links which might help you in establishing your channel.
